March weather in Michigan is always a bit dicey, isn’t it? It could be nice, but you can’t plan on it! Picture yourself walking into school across the breezy parking lot, holding onto your jacket as you lean into the wind. You can’t stop it from blowing, but leaning does seem to help your progress. Just like the March wind, innovations and advancements in technology continue to hit educators and students straight in the face. The 2017 MACUL Conference theme invites participants to be #LEARNINGforward into these changes, facing today’s learning challenges head-on. As the conference chair, I’d like to invite each of you to be a part of this incredible gathering on March 15-17, 2017.
This year’s conference is going to be better than ever. (I know, we say that every year.) For starters, look at our keynote speakers. Each of them are international leaders in learning, technology and the future.
- Sir Ken Robinson has been a creative visionary all over the world and now he’s coming to Michigan!
- Jane McGonigal has applied her futurist vision to playing games to solve problems.
- Jennie Magiera is an awarded technology innovator and is the new author of Courageous Edventures.
In addition to being a part of these exciting sessions with leaders that you won’t see anywhere else in Michigan, consider participating in one or more Pre-Conference Sessions, organized by each of MACUL’s Special Interest Groups (SIGs). These hands-on sessions are led by state and national ed tech experts and are a great way to dive into a new topic or develop additional skills.
It’s not too early to begin planning! Download the app to get started. As the 2017 MACUL Conference gets closer, I will continue to highlight upcoming conference activities and make sure you’re ready for #LEARNINGforward.
