Pre-con Spotlight: Using Open Educational Resources in Your Classroom

Open Book

Understanding how to use technology effectively in your classroom is an exciting adventure, but can be incredibly overwhelming. Most teachers want to develop their own content for students to use, but this is sometimes not possible because of time or technology constraints. This leaves many teachers at home, at night, with their search engine, trying to find resources. The tricky part to this process is that not everything you find on the internet is “open” or even free. Sometimes we make a decision and use things we maybe don’t have the permission to use, but there is a better way.

Come to the MACUL Pre-Conference “Blending with Digital Content: Creating, Finding and Sharing Open Educational Resources” to find out more about Open Educational Resources (OER) and how you can find or create more content for your students to use. Jeff Gerlach and Erin Luckhardt are very excited to share resources with you and help you experiment with various repositories and tools. We asked our presenters, Erin and Jeff, to share a little about themselves, where they work and why they are excited about MACUL. Here’s what they had to say.
