2018 Conference: Invitation from MACUL’s President

Next week the 2018 MACUL Conference will arrive in Grand Rapids. It is the largest educational conference in Michigan and one of the largest educational technology conferences in the US. This a time for you to learn, network and explore. We start off the conference with Pre-Conference on Wednesday. This is a time to get extended learning time with a 3 ½ hour workshop. Thursday begins with a great lineup of Keynotes including Bonnie St. John Paralympian will be talking to us about Staying Resilient in the Rapidly Changing World of Education. Friday morning will bring us Jack Andraka Stanford University student and researcher will be bringing us a message on Paywalls and the Price of Silence. Our closing keynote will be Superintendent Joe Sanfelippo who will be Changing the Narrative.

2018 MACUL Conference logoWe have many nationally known featured speakers including Robert Corbin, Eric Curts, Margo Day, Leslie Fisher, Jennifer Gonzalez, Rushton Hurley, A.J. Juliani, Liz Kolb, Thomas Murray and Eric Sheninger that will inspire you. There will be over 230 sessions by your peers from in and around Michigan to show you how they are using educational technology in their classrooms. Friday will also have poster sessions for you meet teachers face to face.

This year there will be over 180 exhibitors demonstrating the latest technology and more for your classrooms. In the MACUL Zone Steelcase in cooperation with Custer Office will have an active learning classroom setup along with many other products to make your classroom more productive. There will be Makerspace for you to explore. We will also have the Student Technology Showcase at the Conference where you can see what other classes are doing across the state.

Special events this year include SIG Annual Meetings, the MACUL Annual Meeting, Thursday night from 7-10 pm there will be a special event for all attendees at the Grand Rapids Brewing Co. There will be a Goose Chase as well as many giveaways.
